Steve and Jim lead viewers through decisions made with special needs considered for Jim’s legally blind wife, wheelchair accessibility for Jim’s brother-in-law, and sister who will be living in an ADU on the property. The team designs and plans for aging-in-place.

That 70’s Remodel is a high-stakes adventure where creativity meets constraint. Will Stephanie Dailey and her team keep their cool, or will the mountain of challenges take them down? With stunning mountain views, tight deadlines, and impossible odds, this series promises heart-pounding moments, clever solutions, and one unforgettable transformation.
Tucked away in the picturesque slopes of Sandy, Utah—10 minutes from ski resorts—this dilapidated 1970’s home was on the brink of demolition. With a lean budget of $200K and a nail-biting 90-day timeline, the mission was clear: revive the exterior and turn the property into a stunning, energy-efficient short-term rental for business travelers and ski enthusiasts. Nearly 90% of the transformation took place on the outside, pushing the limits of ingenuity and craftsmanship. From gutting the home down to the studs to wrapping it for a complete thermal break, every detail of this project had to serve form, function, and the bottom line. Installation includes all-new cladding, energy-efficient windows and doors, and safety upgrades. Midway through the project, a major setback was discovered requiring a pivot, and the team fast-tracked a full electrical upgrade, added a high-end HVAC system, and incorporated an ERV unit Against all odds, the project wrapped 10 days ahead of schedule at just $10K over budget, with one final jaw-dropping reveal. The home’s energy efficiency skyrocketed—from a pre-construction blower door rating of 7.2 ACH to an impressive 3.8 ACH. And all of this was achieved without touching the interior!
